Someone else controls one of your social accounts. Warn your contacts first, because they are who the account will be used against.
What this assumes
- Any device you trust.
- Normal internet access, and a way to reach your contacts through another channel.
Do these first
Containment. Minutes matter here and nothing else does.
- Warn your contacts through another channel that the account is not currently yours.
- Start the platform's dedicated compromised-account process, which is different from an ordinary password reset. Official page
- Check the email account tied to the social account and secure it, since that is usually how the takeover happened.
Afterwards
When the immediate situation is over, a plan is what keeps it from happening the same way twice. That needs an account; this page never will.
